Hospital Reaps the Benefits of Evolved’s Custom and Scalable Solutions

Over the years Evolved has offered it’s clients a unique RIS/PACS solution tailored specifically to their available budget, their average number of monthly studies, and their technical resources and expertise. Loyal long term clients such as Jason Dent, Director of Radiology at Woodward (Oklahoma) Regional Hospital, have had the opportunity to reap the benefits of Evolved’s custom and scalable solutions. “Different size hospitals have different needs, and Evolved customized their solution to meet our specific needs. Now our RIS/PACS system is custom fit just for us! We couldn't be happier”, says Mr. Dent. He additionally proclaims that “Evolved's customized approach to fulfilling its customers' RIS/PACS needs is the primary reason that Woodward Regional Hospital has remained a loyal Evolved customer since 1999.”

Scalable Solution
Evolved first partnered with Woodward Regional Hospital in December 1999. Until 2005 Evolved provided Woodward with its web-based RIS, Radweb^®, which represented a portion of their Managed Services offering. During this time the Radweb^® product effectively worked hand in hand with Woodward’s AGFA Picture Archive Communications System (PACS). As Woodward's imaging needs expanded they outgrew their existing PACS, and began to search for a scalable imaging archive solution. Woodward quickly realized the features and benefits it would obtain by staying in the Evolved family of Managed Services. Purchasing Evolved’s PACS’s system, View², and integrating it to the Radweb^® solution they had previously purchased, supplied them with many new features only Evolved’s web-based, integrated RIS/PACS solution could offer.

Mr. Dent attributes Woodward's decision to install Evolved's View² system in 2005 to its’ long successful relationship with Evolved and the high quality of service they have successfully delivered.

Seamless Implementation
“Evolved's installation of View 2 went very quickly and smoothly. The Evolved Team was eager to help in any way they could, especially with the training of nurses and radiologists on using the new system. The entire change-over from our former system was seamless, and Evolved was very responsive to any change requests and/or questions that arose during and following the installation and training process. Until we became familiar with View² and our new system we heavily relied on Evolved's professional expertise, and they aided us in the resolution of any issue we encountered.”

Mr. Dent states further that “Woodward didn’t have to cut back its work schedule during the installation process. We knew in advance when each device was being integrated and thus knew not to schedule studies during certain time periods. Because of its ease of use, our team quickly became comfortable with Evolved's View² system, and using it has become second nature to us all.”

Immediate Savings
Woodward Regional has experienced considerable cost savings since the installation of the new Evolved system. Mr. Dent noted that “The ability to create our own CD’s has reduced our film costs by at least one third of what we were previously spending with film-only transfers. Most of our physicians are now accepting images via CD, and I think eventually all of them will do so.”

Future Enhancements at Woodward
“The next big step for us is to get an on-site Radiologist. We haven’t made all the desired changes to our workflow because we don’t currently read exams on-site. Since View² is significantly faster than our former AGFA PACS, we are confident that when we introduce on-site reading, we will be able to take advantage of all of Evolved’s workflow enhancements and find greater value in the capability of automatic pre-fetching of prior studies. When that happens, our workflow will improve dramatically, and we will see even greater savings.”

Woodward Regional Hospital is a Triad-owned facility located in western Oklahoma. The 87-bed acute care center was completed in 1984 and serves as the regional medical center for the tri-state area of western Oklahoma, northern Texas and southern Kansas and its citizens.
